Portami lontano - Bring me Far Away

A tale of fragile souls, exposed to the slow and silent fury of fate.

Portami Lontano is a drama film inspired by a true story. It follows the life of Salvatore Esposito, aka Sacha, a streetwise boy from a Naples that has since disappeared, who over time became a rugged thinker and explorer of the city's more decadent and natural side. At 65, he has a magnetic and youthful appearance, carrying in his eyes the sea of Naples and the carefree spirit of a boy who has lived life to the fullest.

The two directors, Flavio Ricci and Federico Cappabianca, followed and befriended Sacha for nearly 10 years, capturing images, testimonies, and excerpts from a biography as dark as it is compelling. Initially conceived as a documentary, the project soon evolved into the desire to bring to the big screen the stories and characters surrounding the magnetic figure of the protagonist. They sought to recreate his small, intriguing world, imagining a moment when his life as a son of old Naples would, in a short time, transform into the life of a father to the future Naples.

The film portrays an imagined moment when Sacha, after meeting a young boy named Alessandro, finds himself struggling between the ghosts of his past and the joys and dilemmas of transitioning to adulthood, a phase in which he becomes a father figure and a guide.
