Racconti dal Palavesuvio - Tales from Palavesuvio
Ponticelli, eastern outskirts of Naples. Through the stories of the residents of the public housing complexes, the image of a place rich in memory and magic emerges.
An abandoned sports complex for several years, the "Palavesuvio" in Ponticelli is at the heart of the residents' stories. Memories of daily life and recollections of the past intertwine with present events. The contradictions of a historical structure and the perspective of those who hope to revive the Palavesuvio despite the challenges are portrayed vividly.
Within the Parco delle Cinque Torri, a large housing complex home to about a thousand residents, we discover a vibrant and multifaceted community, steeped in history yet burdened with doubts and concerns. This community shares what the Palavesuvio once meant to them. From the woman who remembers the appearance of the Madonna from Međugorje, to the boy who recounts watching the film "Hannibal" in the former amphitheater, to the members of the Cinque Torri committee striving to combat degradation, to the woman who sings songs from the television show "Furore," which was filmed in the sports centre, and finally to the daughter of the Palavesuvio's custodian, the last guardian of the building, whose death seems to have marked the end of the sports complex itself.
