All’ombra del ponte
Four women at four different stages of life are the focal point for telling the story of the Romani community living in the shadow of a bridge. Growth, traditions, and the constant fear of eviction shape a forgotten microcosm caught between the city and the outskirts.
Under the bridge, time is marked by a constant sense of waiting. Indira is 10 years old, and in September, she will start middle school; she can hardly contain her excitement. Valentina has begun high school and has two dreams: to become a fashion designer and to one day be able to invite her friends over. Violetta limps and struggles to walk, yet she single-handedly manages the household and three children, while Grandma Baba watches over them with weary wisdom, the last bastion of ancient traditions. Their dreams intertwine in an elongated time, where fears and hopes blend in with the desire and fear of having to leave the bridge.
